Testimony from Ella
Hi my name is Ella. I became a born again bible trusting Christian when I was 18 years old. I can remember the Holy spirit calling to me from an early age of 6 or 7, but since I didn't have a Christian family to share the gospel with me I didn't have the opportunity to get saved. The Holy Spirit continued to draw me though.
When I got older I wanted to know who Jesus was. Over the phone a friend and I would read the Bible to try and find what it was all about. But I'm afraid that didn't work because I couldn't understand it without the author living in my heart. So I decided to go to church. I went with my cousin to a Catholic church for two years. Wrong choice. I never once heard the Gospel preached and they said Jesus came down into a cookie and you ate Him. That was how you received Him. That was too weird for me. I was still searching and praying for answers when someone knocked on my door inviting me to a Bible study. They didn't tell me the Gospel at the Bible study but I met someone there named Scott. The next year of college, We just happened to run into each other. He took me to a Bible believing church where the gospel was preached. And for the first time I heard how Jesus died for our sins. At first It sounded crazy. But the Holy Spirit wasn't done yet. I could see how important Jesus was to Scott and to the people in that church. I decided that I must be missing something so I took a second look. The first Scripture that I understood when the preacher preached was this one: "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world." Today it is still my favorite verse. It was then I knew I had a choice to make. After the church service, Scott was driving me home. We got into town and there was a Cross on top of a church that was lighted up. God reached out to me as I looked at that cross and spoke to me with His beautiful words of Life........I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. I AM THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. I AM THE PROPITIATION FOR YOUR SINS. I LOVE YOU AND GAVE MY SON FOR YOU. It was right then, right there in the car that I knew I needed Him. I prayed to Jesus and told Him I was a sinner and that I'm deeply sorry for my sins. I told Him I believe in Him and that the rest of my life was His forever. It was a short prayer and Scott had no idea what was happening, but it was one that changed my life forever. Its been 16 years since that night in the car and I'm still serving Jesus today with a deeper love and understanding of the scriptures. He is the Joy of my life. For without Him I could do nothing. Jesus lives in my heart and by whole-hearted faith and trust in Him, He guides me into His righteousness and His paths.
I just want to thank God for a bible believing Church where the bible is believed and preached. There are very few these days. So many Churches are backslidden or maybe not even walking with the Lord. They have become a house of play instead of a house of prayer and a house where people are pointed to Jesus. The preaching of the cross is to them who perish foolishness. Its time we get serious about the Lord. For the hour is approaching when Jesus will come again to catch up the believers and take them home with Him. Do you know Him today? If not. Jesus is knocking on your hearts door. But It's up to you if you let Him in. He loves you and is calling you. Come to Him today. He will bring you joy, peace, love and much more.
