Testimony from Gloria
I'm very happy to get the opportunity to share my testimony. Like a lot of people, I spent the first 29 years of my life thinking I was a Christian but I never asked the Lord into my heart. I thought going to church and being active in church was the way to get to heaven some day. I'm so thankful that God kept dealing with my heart and drawing me to Jesus.
On March 31st, 1979, God wonderfully saved me and my life was completely changed. I was truly "Born Again". God changed the desires of my heart. I asked the Lord into my heart Sunday morning March 31st, 1979.
I knew God wanted me to tell someone that He saved me so I promised to get up in church and say what God had done for me. I surely didn't understand completely what had happened to me, but I knew God had forgiven all my sins. What a wonderful feeling!
I was attending a United Methodist Church when God saved me. I had never heard about salvation or being born again. They had a time during the service when the preacher asked if anyone had a joy they would like to share with the congregation. That was when I stood up in the back row of the church and simply said that several years before I made a commitment to the Methodist Church, but the night before I made my commitment to God.
I asked God to guide me to a church that He would have me to go. The same Sunday evening I attended the DeGraff Free Will Baptist Church. Yes, there are still a few churches that have Sunday Evening services. I am so thankful to God for this wonderful church. I have been a member at this church for over 24 years and I appreciate the teaching and preaching so much.
God truly wants to guide and direct our lives and it's so important to find a strong Bible believing church to attend. We need to go to a church that God is pleased with, not a church that we feel comfortable in. After all it isn't our Church, it's His.
God has never failed me once in that last 24 and a half years. I've failed him, but He has been nothing but wonderful. I thank God for his wonderful grace and mercy.
